MAN-O-WAR CAY

This historic boat-building cay offers the Real Estate buyer a view into the Abaco of the past, when shipbuilding was a major industry.

Man O War Cay is similar to the other Cays in that it was settled by The Loyalist. Pastel clapboard houses built by the ships’ carpenters and trimmed with the gingerbread, dot this tiny island. It is a very picturesque island barely a quarter of a mile wide and just over two miles long. The Harbour is very well known for some of the best anchorage in all of Abaco with the eastern end of the Harbour considered to many as a hurricane harbour. The ocean side offers several beautiful beaches with spectacular snorkeling reefs just offshore.

Man O War essentially attracts a very settled clientele. The island is alcohol free, including the restaurants, though it is not shunned upon to have at ones home. There are several great eating-places along with food stores and a well-stocked hardware and lumber store.

The most expensive real estate in Abaco sold has been on Man O War Cay, though it still offers affordable ocean view lots and homes. Dickies Cay, which lies just across the Harbour, offers very private residences with dockage on the Harbour and fantastic views of The Sea of Abaco facing Marsh Harbour.
